We are connected to Biomass

With the ever increasing costs of heating our house from oil fired boilers we took the big decision to invest in ecological biomass technology. The biomass boiler was commissioned in November and now provides a reliable and much improved heating and hot water system for all of Northcourt. The boiler is fed by wood pellets which are made from compressed sawdust and shreds as a by-product to the timber industry, thereby heightening our sustainable credentials. We have never been so warm in the house and hope you feel as equally cosy!
Wood for the fires!

The storm, with winds recorded up to 99mph at the Needles on the Isle of Wight, passed us by without too much damage. Shorwell sits in a relatively sheltered position at the foot of the downs and avoids prevailing winds from the southwest. A couple of trees did fall in the garden and we have been busy clearing these up, particularly one which blocked the drive! A mixed blessing, as the wood from these trees will now replenish the wood store ready for the open fires and wood burning stoves, for next winter’s guests.
